From the PH Blog, Queso

Just when we thought it was going to warm up a little, it snows again. However for some reason the icy winds didn't follow suite, so when you walk outside it's chilly, 34 degrees right now, but not all that cold. The only difference is there's snow everywhere. There's a story in the paper that says the area around CBGB's is about to jack up the rent prices and they might have to move because there rent will double. It's already at $20,000 a year. Imagine if that doubled! I have a friend who bought her first house in 1997 in Louisiana for $37,000 brand new, and it was a very nice home. That gives you an idea of the geographic difference in the standards of living. Across the street from us is a little collectibles store called 5th Dimension, and the grandson of the owner of CBGB's works there. He wasn't at liberty to discuss the details for legal reasons but I sort of got the impression that they'll somehow work around it. It would suck if they had to move. More later.

Judge Genius presents The COURTROOM DRAMA

If you missed the last show then you missed all the courtroom drama of Judge Genius and his attorneys. It was a great show and a great turnout once again. Now our next show will Friday Feb 18th at the Spanish Moon with Elsah (which Justin and Adam both play in). It will our last show until April 22nd...............when we open for FISHBONE. That's right. At the Spanish Moon FISHBONE, JG, and Kingsquare (Kingsquare.net). It will be an awesome show and I know yall's asses will be there. More recording going on this week. We hope to have everything recorded by the end of this month and mixed and mastered by May. Keep checking up here or at myspace.com/judgegenius.

*Editors Note, Feb 12, 2013 - This show was spectacular. The band all dressed up like lawyers, and Sam dressed up like a judge. And there was much ballyhooing and ranting and dumb shit going on. There's probably pictures somewhere but maybe not...?

From the PH Blog, Sunday Morning

it's a cool 40 degrees or so. Been up since 5:30, after drinking the Friday night away, and sleeping Saturday away. We hung out at a bar named "Welcome to the Johnson's." No kidding. They gave us free drinks because of our namesakes. Got some shows this week to prepare for. New places to play, stuff like that. Should be fun. Been reading some Ray Bradbury. Not bad, a little overboard on the adjectives, but well written nonetheless. Got this great new song I'm trying to finish but the lyrics are plaguing me. The cool thing about it is it basically wrote itself in a 5 minute sitting, and I was just sort of along for the ride. This solitude is too comfortable, all tucked away from the rest of the world. Shelter, like our own private & creative think-tank. Little eatery on the corner has great food, and nice people. Feels like it's all ours too, and it's open 24 hours, so we can have coffee whenever we like. Wanted to go to the movies yesterday but overheard the matinee price was seven bucks. Screw that. More later. Patrick

From the PH Blog, Live from New York

hello one and all. we are now transmitting to you from a basement on fifth st. in the east village in new york. let me give you a taste. -new place new devil to delve into, dirt filled snowy salted sidewalks, the sun can't do a thing to the cold in-between the alleys. sirens; the perpetual song the leslie cabnet of life blood boiling over from the streets. southern gentlemen gently out of place, fit right in with a real smug smile. 3rd ave. too cold to call it comfort yet, but at least there is a bar next door. be well. Paul
